Lois Ronalee McGhie

Lois Ronalee Ault, the youngest child of James and Leone Ault, was born in Des Moines, IA, on February 14, 1936.

As a young child her family moved to Las Vegas, NV where she grew up. After graduating from Las Vegas High School, she went on to attend Woodbury University in Burbank, CA. She graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising & Design. While in college she met the love of her life, Ron McGhie.

Roni (her nickname) and Ron were married in 1963 and settled in Hollywood, CA where they would start their family. They had a son Kevin in 1965 and a daughter Kristin in 1966. Ron became very ill and in 1968 he passed away after a short battle with cancer. He was 32yrs old.

Upon Ron’s passing, Roni returned to Las Vegas with her children to be near family. She worked for Montgomery Wards in window treatments and design for 15yrs. She moved on to work for Ethel M Chocolates where she would retire at age 65. Roni loved her customers and some became close friends and she kept in touch with them for many years.

Roni loved socializing with others, she loved music (all genres), she loved going to concerts and she supported her kids in everything they did. Roni played the role of mother and father in a time when it wasn’t common. Despite her struggles, she raised her children with love and devotion.

After a number of years of declining health, she passed away peacefully at home with her family. She was 85. As her family grieves her loss, they take comfort knowing that Roni & Ron are together again. Roni is survived by her son Kevin; her daughter Kristin (Todd) Coons and their children Lauren and Logan.
