Mary Dike

April 9, 1957 — April 30, 2013

In the early hours of the morning of April 30th, Mary Jean Dike died, with her husband and her sisters at her side, her brothers nearby. She was 56 years old. As a child her nickname was Nicey. The name could not have been more appropriate. Mary was good, gentle and kind. She loved animals of all kinds, most especially her golden retrievers, Roscoe and Bailey, and the birds and bunnies that grace their yard. Mary was welcoming to all she encountered. Some of her dear friends were people she first met on her everyday journeys - Starbucks baristas, casino employees, and co-workers. She was a true friend, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Mary married her husband, Dave Dike in the fall of 1989. She would say he was "the best thing that ever happened in my life." Her siblings would all agree with that statement! Mary Jean, as she is called by her brothers and sisters, was just 16 years old when her mother, Ramona Brummel died, a grief she carried on some level for the rest of her life. Her father, Herb Brummel died in 1989. Today, we hold the vision of Mary Jean and her parents being reunited. Mary faced her terminal cancer diagnosis gracefully, bravely, and humbly, traits embedded in her being. We will forever hold the memory of Mary captured in this photograph - beautiful big red hair, a heart of gold, and a smile that could stop you in your tracks. Our hearts are filled with sadness at her loss, but we are comforted by her abiding spirit.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Dave, mother in law, Aileen Dike, stepsons Chris Tallerico (Sarah and granddaughter Jordan), Randy Tallerico (Renee and grandsons, Eli and Evan), Brummel siblings - Bob (Therese), Amrita Brummel-Smith (Ken), Mona Johnston (Bruce), Bill (Frances Fitzgerald), in laws - Paula Finefrock (Monty) and Marty Dike, stepmom Helen Brummel, and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson St. Las Vegas, Nevada. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com

Mary's memorial service will be held Monday, May 6th at 10:40 am at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.

Mary was deeply loved in all the circles of her life. She will be missed. Good night dear one.
