Miguel (Mike) Tabua, age 87, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on May 11, 2017 in Henderson, NV. He was born in San Marcelino, Philippines on September 27, 1929. He was raised by his stepfather, Federico Mangosing and his mother, Alejandra Tabua. Miguel served in the United States Navy during the Korean and the Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Navy after 22 years of service as a Captain’s steward. He married Ludenaria (Ludy) Eugenio on May 20, 1956 in Zambales, Philippines. After his career in the Navy, Miguel went on to work for the Long Beach Gas Department from 1969 until 1990. Since retiring from the Gas Company, Miguel and Ludy moved to Las Vegas 14 years ago. Ludy preceeded him in death - February of 2016.
Miguel was a wonderful man, outgoing and quite friendly. He would often go on walks for exercise around the subdivision, and say hello to his neighbors. He spent many hours gardening and engaging friends in his front yard. He loved growing fruits and vegetables in his garden and also enjoyed cooking.
Miguel is survived by his two sisters; Adoracion and Rosita Mangosing, three children; Raymond (Dawn) Tabua, Judy (Michael) Santo, Joann (Terry) Meiselwitz, two grandchildren; Cerina (Emily) Pele, Michelle Tabua; and two great grandchildren; Max and Sosai Diehl Pele.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 9 to 11 am at Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Hwy Ste. 1, Boulder City, NV 89005. Funeral service and burial will follow immediately at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Chapel/Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. Repast TBD.
