Patricia "Pat" Mary Shattler, age 69, of Boulder City passed away on February 25, 2014. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity, the hallmark of a life spent caring for others.
True to her compassionate nature, Pat found her greatest happiness when helping people in need. She worked as a nurse caring for the sick and injured for 38 years. After her retirement, she volunteered for a number of organizations, including the Boulder City Food Bank and Helping Hands. She was always willing to help and never asked for anything in return. Pat's thoughtfulness and generosity knew no bounds, especially when it came to her family. She showed her family how much she loved them every chance she could - never missing a birthday, anniversary, or major event. She doted on all the children and was there to provide comfort and help whenever it was needed. Her ability to live life so unselfishly and completely was an inspiration to her friends and family. She will be greatly missed.
Though her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, the family is comforted by the fact that she is rejoining her beloved husband, Jerry, who passed away in 2012. Pat is survived by her daughter Amy (Doug) Schreiner; two granddaughters, Alissa and Mallory; two brothers Robert (Peggy) Zawacki and Chris (Cynthia) Zawacki; and a sister Debra Dillman. In addition to Jerry, she is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Rosalie Zawacki.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held on March 21, 2014 at 8:40am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Helping Hands or the Boulder City Emergency Aid 600 Nevada Hwy, Boulder City, NV 89005 (702) 293-0332 in Pat's name. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com "
