Patrick John Haley Hughes, aged 63, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in St. George, Utah, after a sudden illness.
Pat was born December 13, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio to Barbara Louise Johnson and Kenneth Haley. He was welcomed to their family by his older brother, Michael.
At age 4, on February 17, 1966, he came to the home of Francis and Maurine Hughes in Mesquite, Nevada, and after 9 years of waiting was officially adopted into the family with his sisters Irmaleda, Twila, MaryLynn, and MaryLee. The day after the adoption, he was Sealed to the family in the St. George Temple. He was Baptized and Confirmed as a member of the Church, received the Aaronic Priesthood, and was ordained to the office of a Deacon on the same day.
On December 16, three days after his 19th birthday, he received a call to serve a mission for the Church in the Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission.
On March 19, 1983, Patrick John Hughes married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Treva Leona Martinsen in the St. George Temple. Their love and dedication to each other is an inspiration to all around them. They have been blessed with three sons and two daughters, Patrick Evan Hughes (Fiance, Brynna Stephens), Brett Leamon Hughes, Shawni Beth (Joan Servando) Sanchez, Jaron Wayne (Carmina) Hughes, and Kayli Maurine (Tyler) Weeks. He was blessed with 9 grandkids and another is on the way!
Pat grew to love running and participating in various races through the years. He enjoyed training and would wake up before the sun to get his miles done. The races he ran were often accompanied by his children and were often an adventure!
Pat enjoyed his work at Loadtec and took pride in all he would accomplish. He saw his coworkers as family and always showed up with a smile and an inspiring positive attitude.
Family History became Pat’s obsession. His first mother’s family has been waiting for generations for him and their love is evidenced in the thousands of Temple Ordinances he has researched and provided.
He was honest and true in all his dealings. He lived a good, good life, served others—on both sides of the Veil, and fulfilled his callings with love and diligence. His calling as a Temple Ordinance Worker in the St. George Temple was a great joy and brought many blessings to his life. To the end, he served with honor, humility, and love, a valiant dedicated disciple.
His greatest joy and love in this earthly experience was his wife, the love of his life, and his children. Nothing made him happier than spending time together with his family and making memories.
He is extremely loved and will be missed greatly.
