Paul Eugene “Gene” Erdmann, 74 years of age, passed away Friday, September 20th 2024 in Mesquite, NV.
Gene was born to Paul and Etta Erdmann on the 10th of June 1950, in the town of Kadoka, SD. He lived in many towns as a child, but spent his formative years doing everything sports in Philip, SD high school with awards in basketball, baseball, bowling and even being a South Dakota Distinguished Angler for many years. He graduated from Philip High School in 1968.
Gene took on various jobs before landing in Car Sales. That job took him and his family to many new towns and on adventures. Minnesota became home to him for many years because of that job until his retirement and then he moved to Mesquite, NV an area he fell in love with long ago.
His life was spent in adventure whether through travel, fishing, golfing excursions, or just meeting new people, being the laughter in the room and creating life long friendships.
His last years were spent doing those things he loved until an injury made it impossible to play golf and fish anymore but being the man he was and the animal lover he was he found a new joy in taking his friends dogs, Cassanova and Cher Cher, on treks through the desert. He was surrounded by the greatest group of friends anyone could ask for and his family is forever grateful to all of them with extra acknowledgements to Richi Kalivas, Tina Kolinas and Debi Hartman for being his caregiver in his final days. He was blessed to know all of you, as is the family.
Genes life had its hardships and losses but through it all he always found a way to find the positives within it even in his final days.
Gene is survived by his son John Paul Erdmann of Sioux Falls, SD, daughters Michelle Erdmann of Minneapolis, MN, Gina Froemming of Bemidji, MN, Angie Lano of Elk River, MN, Christine Miller of Elk River, MN and his two grandchildren Jake and Joey Elk River, MN, his sisters Paula (Johnny) Stone Muleshoe, TX, Mitzi Houska of Moscow, ID, Rosemarie (Kevin) Sinclair of Spearfish, SD, he is Uncle to Tracy Stone of Amarillo, TX, Shala Reed of Friona, TX, Justin Houska of Moscow, ID, and Casey Curtis of Stanford, VA
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Paul Erdmann and Etta Erdmann, brother in-law Kenny Houska, niece Kayla Houska, his wives Cathy Hanrahan, Sandra Bauer, Diana Erdmann, and Mary Alice Kraus
As per Genes request there will be no memorial service as he has lived in so many places over the years, but his family asks that if you want to share good memories or photos of Gene, please leave them here or on his Facebook page for all to see and reminisce of the good times had with him, and thank you all for being a part of his life.
The family will be spreading his ashes in South Dakota in the spring privately. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.starmortuary.com
