Raymond “Ray” was born in Baker Nevada and attended White Pine High School, graduating in 1946. He joined the Air Force after graduation, serving his country at bases in Texas, Alaska, Kansas, and London. He met his wife, Norma, at a GI dance in Kansas in 1947. They married in 1951 and immediately moved to Paris, France, where he was stationed. The couple lived in France, Victorville, CA, and Lovelock, NV before settling in the San Francisco Bay Area. They retired to Henderson in 2005 to be near family.
Ray was a kind and sensitive man, dedicated to God, his country, and family. An accomplished musician, he loved dancing and piano and shared his passion for the arts with his children and grandchildren. He sang in the Church choir well into his 80s, looked forward to Sunday bingo, and had a wicked sense of humor. With his wife, Norma, he gave of his time to those in need, and believed in living a simple life.
Ray is survived by his daughters Morning Star Borzoni (Aldo), Mary Maniery (Gary), and son-in-law Gary Bush; grandchildren Jonathan Maniery, Andrea “Ellie” Maniery (Jesse Kilburn), Joshua Bush, Sampson (Kim) Bush, Alexandria Bush (Can Buyukasik), and great grandson Westley Bush. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, and daughter, Laura Bush.
A service will be held at the Star Mortuary and Crematory, 6484 Boulder Ranch Avenue, Henderson, Nevada on April 20, 2021 at 9 am. A private burial will occur at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on April 23, 2021. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.starmortuary.com.
