Reynold Lewis "Renny" Hixson, age 82, of Mesquite NV, passed away March 1, 2025, at his home.
He was born December 21, 1942 in Salt Lake City Utah, to Lewis Rigby Hixson and Florence Jean Ausherman Hixson.
He was a life long resident of Park City Utah and graduated from Park City High School, class of 1961. He was an all-star athlete and Homecoming King.
Ren served in the United States Navy, during Vietnam and was stationed in Long Beach, California. He said being in the Military was some of the best days of his life. He made life long friends in the service and was called "Moon" by his Navy buddies. He married Bonnie Charboneau, and they later divorced. He married Vicki Prescott and they later divorced. He met Tama Frantz Atkinson in 1988 and they married on December 21, 1991 in Park City Utah. (Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple June 21, 2008) Ren and Tama resided in Park City Utah until they moved to Mesquite Nevada July 2020. Ren loved his new home in Mesquite and said it was easier shoveling sunshine than Snow.
He was a service Technician for Strong Porsche Audi in Salt Lake City, Utah for 20 years. He also bought a Mobile Vehicle service with friends for a short time. In 1990, he became Mr. Mom to his youngest son until his son began Kindergarten. He then worked for Holiday Inn in Park City from 1995 as a Maintenance Tech, he loved taking care of the hotel and loved the people he worked with. He worked at Holiday Inn until an accidental fall ended his working career, he left Holiday Inn in 2017 at the age of 75. He was a scout master for his youngest son and his son's friends. His greatest joy and blessing were his Children and Grandchildren who he loved with all his heart.
He is survived by his Wife, Tama, Mesquite NV. His children Renee Music, Todd Lewis (Brandie) Hixson, Kortney (Brittaney) Atkinson, Nicole Steele, Kasey (Autumn) Atkinson, Renny R Hixson. 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren with one on the way in August. Sister LuJean Nuneviller, Sister In Law Brenda (Brad) Wilde, Brother in Laws, Dean Frantz and Roger (Kori) Frantz, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Son Kim F Atkinson, Brother Stephen Hixson, Mother in Law Carma Loraine Frantz, Father in Law Reed H Frantz, Brother in Law Frank Nuneviller, Sister in Law Ginger Hixson and 2 Nephews, Scott Hixson and Dillon Frantz.
Ren's family would like to Thank Heather, Michelle and Veronica Mesa View Hospice for the compassionate care he received.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated. There will be a celebration of life with military honors at a later date. Burial will be in the Francis Cemetery, Francis Utah.
