Mesquite, NV, Richard Douglas Ensign, 85, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024 at Mesa View Hospital with his daughter Karen, her husband David and grandson Jonah by his side. He was born January 15, 1939 in Logan, UT to Wesley Ensign and Georgia Willis. 

 Known to family and friends as “Doug”, his initial years were spent in Logan. At the age of six, the family moved to Glendale, California where he graduated from High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western Canadian Mission – serving in both Alberta and British Columbia. Upon returning home Doug met and married Lorie Phillips also of Glendale, CA with whom they had four children. The marriage ended in divorce, but they remained good friends until her death in 2014. Doug graduated with a BA in business from Brigham Young University. In his later years he moved to Mesquite, Nevada where he worked and lived for more than twenty years. 

He is survived by his older brother Jerry of Madison, WI, daughters Dalana Rayne (Curtis), Kathryn Ensign and Karen Mortensen (David), a son and grandchildren, Justin Rackham, Chelsea Nutt (Brandon), Jake and Jonah Mortensen.

He was preceded in death by both parents, as well as brothers Robert and Bruce and sister Janice. Family and friends are invited to leave memories and condolences at www.starmortuary.com
