Richard Raymond Harper, age 57 of Boulder City passed away November 3, 2013. He was born in Honolulu, HI on July 16, 1956 to Harold and Marjorie. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later had a long career as a pilot for United Parcel Service starting his career in DC-8's and then flying 757's and 767's. He married Gretchen Moreland Westerman in 2006 in Boulder City, NV.
Rick was a hard working kind hearted man with a passion for life. He loved to help anyone in need. He was a devoted family man and cared deeply about family values. His fascination with airplanes and flying started when he was five years old. He worked hard to establish his career as a pilot, loved his aviation career and was excited to be able to mentor and encourage upcoming pilots to pursue their dreams. When he was not in the air flying he loved to be out on the lake with his wife and dogs. He was an intelligent man who was passionate about science and enjoyed relaxing by playing his guitar and singing. He had served on the Boulder City Airport Advisory Committee, was a member of the EAA, AOPA, and IPA.
Rick is survived by his wife Gretchen Harper; mother Marjorie Harper; son Jon Harper; daughter Sandy Spracklen; four siblings Victoria, Cathleen, Linda, and Ward. The family will provide details about his celebration of life.
