Richard Henri Morrisette, age 68, passed away on March 17, 2015 in Boulder City, NV. He was born in New Hampshire to Henry and Deloris Morrissette. Richard was living in Denver, CO in December of 1963 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve 5 consecutive tours in the Vietnam War, 3 of which were volunteer. He served his country with pride and honor for 20 years and retired as a Tech Sergeant in December of 1983. He married Julie Ann Rothermel, the love of his life, on December 16th 1967 in Englewood, Colorado. When Julie was just 3 years old, the two met, having told each other from as early as age 5 that they were going to get married.
Richard's face wore a constant smile, so long as he was not on camera, an old habit formed in the military. He loved to travel, even if only to the other end of town; he just loved to see the country he fought so hard to protect. He was always listening to music, no matter the genre, and his movie repertoire was just about endless. One could always find him playing games and cracking jokes, especially on nurses and family members. He knew when someone needed a laugh and was quick to deliver, his warm smile and laugh just as infectious as his jokes. His love for his country was as great as that of a mother to her child, but none can compare to his love for his grandchildren and his family who never left his side. A member of the VFW, American Legion, Cootie, and the Moose Lodge, as well as a strong supporter of multiple Veteran Organizations, Richard will definitely be remembered for his kind heart and his dedication to fully serve even those he had never met. His wish was to be remembered as a person who forgave anyone and everyone.
Richard is survived by his wife Julie Morrissette of Boulder City, NV; three children Gladys Mercedes Fenyves and her husband Mark of Boulder City, NV, Patty Marie Morrissette of Colorado Springs, CO, Henry Ronald Morrissette of Cheyenne, WY; two adored grandchildren Alexis and Blake Fenyves, two brothers Tony Morrissette of Cheyenne, WY and Robert Morrissette of Denver, CO; and a sister Violet.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 10:30 at Hope Baptist Church 850 Ave B, Boulder City, NV 89005. Burial will follow the service at 12:00 noon at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
