Rick was born in Redwing Minnesota in 1955, to Parents JC and Dorothy Muyres. They moved soon after to Sparks, Nevada and then in 1965 to Boulder City where they made their home. In high school Rick was on the basketball and baseball teams and after the coaches got done negotiating over him, he went on to play Golf and won the Nevada State Amateur. Rick had amazing natural talent on the course and continued to play golf with Glennie Bicknell as his caddy.
He married Tracy A Brown (1980-1997) and together they had Kendall (1982) and Cody (1987). An avid hunter and fisherman, he and his family traveled all over Nevada. Rick and Tracy, eventually got horses and became avid participants at the Boulder City Corrals. Rick was President of the Horseman's Association for a number of years and even after leaving as president he continued to be active in events at the corrals. It was only natural that he introduced their children to High School Rodeo. Kendall and Cody both competed for Boulder City High School Rodeo Club, participating in several different events through the years.
In 1999 he married Virginia Sweet and lived with his kids and her two daughters Sahsha and Megan in Boulder City. He started working for the City of Boulder City full time in 1997, but had been there many years before as a temporary employee. He will be greatly missed by his fellow co-workers and longtime friends at the city offices. He was more than just a friend to some, he was a brother.
There was, and is, so much more to Rick than just these quick highlights, from speeding the streets of Boulder in his yellow Dodge Dart, to just cruising to the Corrals in his Dodge truck. A true and loyal friend, Son, Father, and Brother. He has a big heart and character that even St. Peter is shaking his head in admiration. People whose lives he touched have their stories and those who truly knew him, respect him as no other. He joins his father, mother, sister and step daughter on to a new chapter in his life. And the gap will be felt in many. He is survived by loving family and friends.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 9:00 am at St. Andrews Catholic Community. Burial will follow at the Boulder City Cemetery. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
