Richard Bret Poenisch

Bret grew up in Grove City, Ohio. He attended Grove City High and graduated class of 1976. He started playing drums at a young age and was in a band in his teens. He played music at the Holiday Inn in Grove City. 

Bret moved to California in 1980 to work in what would become Boeing. He began working on the Space Shuttles, where he met and married his wife Becky. They had one son Chris. Bret worked for Boeing for 29 years before his medical retirement. 

Bret and Becky moved from California to Mesquite, Nevada after 35 years and after Becky also retired. They lived there until his passing. They were married for 39 years and 8 months. 

Bret loved music (being a drummer) and was in several bands over the years before retiring in 2001. He loved playing golf. He loved most of all the view out his back patio windows where he would watch the planes take off and land. He loved watching the lighting during stormy weather but most of all, he loved the beautiful Mesquite sunsets.

Bret is preceded in death by his father Richard, survived by his mother Judith, wife Becky, son Chris, daughter-in-law Michelle and his three beloved grandchildren Eli, Cole, and Joy, as well as his brothers Scott and wife April, Todd and wife Elaine, plus numerous other family members.

Services will be held on December 20th, at Spence-Miller Funeral Home. Burial will be December 23rd at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.
