Richard E Sandberg, age 87 of Boulder City, NV passed away on April 8, 2014. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT on March 22, 1927 to Nels and Mary Whyte Sandberg. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was called back to serve during the Korean War. He was a mechanic on the Corsair Airplanes. He loved that style of plane and enjoyed working on them and flying them. After his service in the Navy he went to work for General Telephone Company in Southern California and retired as a manager after 35 years. He married Carolyn Rehbehn on March 11, 1967. In 1983 after retiring they moved to Boulder City from Granada Hills, CA. He enjoyed the retired life and was part of a traveling group called the Rolling Boulders. He enjoyed traveling, he and Carolyn traveled all across America in their RV. He was a member of the Boulder City Elks Lodge. He also enjoyed going deer hunting.
Richard is survived by his wife Carolyn Sandberg of Boulder City, NV; Daughter Juli (Don) Kelley of Irvine, CA; four grandchildren Glen Kelley, Laurissa (Brandon) Sontag, Devin & Bryce Kelley; four great grandchildren Charlotte, Wyatt, Owen and Adam. His brother Jack (Shirley) Sandberg. He is preceded in death by his son Glen Sandberg.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 12:40 pm at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, following the ceremony a reception honoring Dick will be held at LME Club House.
