Richard John Smithlin, age 64, of Las Vegas passed away on January 14, 2014. He was born in La Crosse, WI on January 1, 1950 to John and Kathleen Smithlin. At a young age he fell in love with the game of pool, at 14 he built his own pool table. He became an accomplished player of both snooker and pool. In 1972 he moved to Las Vegas looking for the opportunity to hone his skills and create his own line of cues. By the Mid 1980's he was building Smithlin Custom Cues with some help from close friends. He has made cues for some of the great pool players of today. He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Lee Myer, son-in-law, Ottie Ray Myer, granddaughter, Samantha Lynn Pennise, extended family and good friends.There will be a Celebration of Life to be held at Las Vegas Cue Club Friday Jan 24th 1-5pm.
