Robert Langevin

Robert Gerard Langevin died February 27, 2015. He was born Nov 8, 1929 to Albertine Rousseau Langevin and Joseph Magloire Langevin in Pawtucket, R.I. He served in the U.S. Maritime Service from November, 1945 until August,1946 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1949. He began a long career in aviation at the Hawaiian School of Aeronautics and graduated from the Allen School of Aeronautics in Pawtucket and Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California. He worked as a flight line mechanic for the Flying Tigers, Great Lakes Airlines and Lockheed, He was hired as a rocket propulsion field engineer for North American Rockwell and worked on all Rocketdyne's rockets, including the Atlas, Jupiter, Thor and Saturn. He owned B & J Flying Service and Flying School in Santa Maria and was a technical representative for Lockheed on the L-1011. He lived to fly and was qualified as an aircraft and aircraft power plant mechanic, an airline transport pilot rated in Learjets, HS 125, the Citation CE500 and the BAe 146. He was a flight instructor for airplanes, land, sea and glider and multi-engine, ground instructor, advanced and instruments. He came to Las Vegas in 1973 to fly for Charter Airlines and then flew for Jet Avia, Taylor Aviation and Royal West Airlines. He enjoyed a late career as a realtor and was equally at home on Mt. Charleston as he was sailing on Lake Mead. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Gertrude Martin and Rita Greenan. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ann, three sons, John of Portland, ME, Robert and Larry of Boulder City, his brother, Raymond Langevin of Pawtucket and three grandchildren. Services will be held at St Christopher's Episcopal Church, 812 Arizona St, Boulder City on March 14, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. followed by burial at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.
