Robert "Bud" Eugene McKeighan, age 82, of Las Vegas Nevada passed away on February 28, 2014 at the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City where he had lived the past year. Bud was born on June 17, 1931 to William and Lucinda (Tague) McKeighan the youngest of six children. He attended Old Park Grade School, and graduated from Harlan High School in Iowa with the class of 1949. During high school and after graduation, Bud worked at Grahams Department Store in Harlan. Bud married Lucille Elizabeth Petsche on October 20, 1951 at St Michael's Church in Harlan. He was transferred to the Grahams Department Store in Leon, Iowa where he worked for three months until he returned to Harlan in January 1952 to work at Potter Electric Shop. He learned the electrical trade from Clarence Lacey. On his 21st birthday, June 17, 1952, he was drafted into military service during the Korean War. He served his country until June 17, 1954 at Camp Roberts, California, and at the Presidio in San Francisco in the Officers' Separation Department of the U. S. Army. After his service, he began his career in the retail business at Farner's Store in Harlan, Iowa, where he worked for 35 years, first in the men's department and later as manager of the variety store. In 1988, he moved to Las Vegas and worked in the men's department of the Broadway Stores/Macy's for seven years until he retired due to health issues in 1995.

Bud was a devote Christian and was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed sports he loved watching football, basketball, and baseball. He was an avid golfer and loved playing ping pong, pool and cards with family and friends. He appreciated music, poetry, books and history and was very creative and artistic. He will be missed by all and will be remembered as the life of the party with his sense of humor, his one-liners, and his positive outlook on life.

Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter Noelle Peters her husband Gunnar, and two beloved granddaughters Zoe and Sophie, of Parker, CO, as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucinda (Tague) McKeighan, four sisters Gertrude Kays, Ruth Burgin, RubyWehr, Alice Christensen and a brother William "Bill" McKeighan.

A memorial mass will be held on March 25, 2014 at St Andrew's Catholic Community in Boulder City at 10:00 am. After the mass, relatives and friends are invited to join the family at the St Andrews Catholic Community Hall. Interment and military rites will follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 12:40 p.m. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
