Colonel Robert A. Monfort, USMC Retired, age 84, passed away October 29, 2015 at the Nevada State Veterans Home after a long life of service to his country and his family. A native to San Diego, he was born September 17, 1931 to Lewis and Helen Monfort. He was a graduate of Point Loma High School. Bob joined the Marine Corps in 1951 and served for over 33 years. He often said, "I went in as a snot nosed Private and came out a Colonel". He was very proud of his service and had numerous honors in his storied career. When asked what he did in the Marine Corps, he said "anything they told me to do".
He is survived by his wife Pauline, sister Eleanor Silva (Don), brother Steve (Donna), sons Robert (Karen) and Steve (Lori) and daughter Kathy Stayner (Gary). Grandchildren Nick, Noal, Jenna, Courtney, Emily, Meryl, Alexa, Aaron, Larry and Mathew; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He touched many lives and will be missed by all. He was a resident of Boulder City, Nevada. Services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Friday November 6, 2015.
