Rockie Edwards

Rockie Roger Edwards, age 65 of Las Vegas, NV passed away on December 4, 2011. Rockie was born in Minneapolis, MN to Steven and Vivian Olsen Edwards on July 27, 1946. On October 19, 1968 he married Ruth Escobedo in Cross Creek, NC. They moved to Las Vegas from North Hollywood, CA in 1986.

Rockie served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was rewarded the Bronze Star for his bravery and the Purple Heart. While serving in the Army he acquired the skill as a diesel mechanic from working on the tanks. He worked as a diesel truck mechanic until he was forced into retirement from illness.

He loved to work with his hands and in the garage. He restored old cars, fixed motorcycles, and repaired anything that was broken. Rockie was a compassionate person who loved his dog (Tiger). He enjoyed going camping and fishing and spending time with his family.

Rockie is survived by his wife Ruth Edwards, a daughter Vivian, two brothers Gary Edwards and Rodney Edwards, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter that he was blessed to have met. He is preceded in death by a son Rockie Edwards Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:00 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Boulder City Family Mortuary. Family and friends can sign the memorial guest book at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
