Ronald K Delabarre, Sr., 81, of Boulder City, went home to the Lord on December 2, 2015. He was the only child of George and Emma Delabarre, who preceded him in death. Ron graduated from high school in Grandview, Washington, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Through his years of military service he managed commissary stores on bases in California, Arizona, Virginia, and Iwakuni, Japan, and at his last duty station was the Executive Officer of a Battalion. Ron served in the Korean and Viet Nam wars, where he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and Good Conduct Medal with three stars.
In 1955 Ron married Bernice Thiesfeld who had 13 siblings. He often said that he thought he would never stop meeting her brothers and sisters! Ron and Bernice moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1977, after Ron retired from the Marine Corps as a Major. He worked for 16 years with the City of Las Vegas as a Contract Specialist, and was a school-trained auctioneer who ran the auctions for the City and County for many years.
The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family cruise to Alaska.
Ron and Bernice loved to travel, and were fortunate to visit many countries. Ron especially enjoyed recording their adventures at sea. He also loved to play pool and Texas Hold-em poker; hunt and fish with his family; and work on his favorite collections. Ron learned to love music from his parents and he played several instruments ranging from clarinet to the organ. For Ron, life was a reason to laugh or celebrate with a prank. Even though Ron was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago, he maintained his playful sense of humor and his caring ways to the very end.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice; four childrena"Michelle, Ron, Jr. (DeAnn), Niki and George (Veronica); and, three grandchildrena"Ken (Erin), April, and Emily.
