Russell James Jeffries / February 1, 1945 - July 5, 2020
Dad just had a wonderful improvement in his quality of life as he has gone to be in Heaven with his Lord and his wife.
Many would say that he should be recognized as a decorated soldier in the Vietnam War. His sacrifices as a Navy Corpsman to save those around him and put their lives above his own should be stuff of legends. The many years he spent in his career as a police officer protecting the people and community that he loved should have earned him accolades from all sources. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude for all that he did to serve others, but he was so much more.
Dad was a cop, a soldier, a Christian and an American but most of all he was a father and grandfather. He started with nothing: no real father of his own, no guidance, no one to teach him how to raise children or guide a family. Everything he did was learned on the job. My sister and I were blessed with an amazing, understanding father that always showed love and brought peace to our family in every situation. He taught us how to work and persevere. He taught us that the most difficult things are sometimes worth the most effort. Most of all, he and Mom taught us how to love. He started with nothing and built a great life for his family and built a solid foundation for his children. He started with nothing and gave us everything. He gave us every tool a person could need for life. He came from nothing and reached greatness as a father and grandfather. I must do everything in my power to pass on the lessons he taught and the love he gave to preserve his legacy because the world needs people like him.
Russell is survived by his three blessed children, Holly, Kris, and Sylvia Jeffries; his four extremely blessed grandchildren, Daniel Percival, Mikey Percival, Natalie and Jamie Jeffries; two unofficially adopted sons, Jason DuBreuil and Martin Mendoza and their families; brothers, Steven and John Douglas; sister, Rebecca Braeseke.
“When you reach those streets paved with gold, (Dad) stake a claim out for me.”
