Salvatore Polselli

July 12, 1927 — September 29, 2011

Salvatore Polselli, age 84 of Las Vegas, NV passed away at his home surrounded by family on September 29, 2011. Salvatore was born on July 12, 1927 in Providence, Rhode Island to Antonio and Palma Compagnone Polselli.

Salvatore served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Shipfitter Third Class. After his service in the Navy he worked for the United States Postal Service Los Angeles, California. He moved to Las Vegas after retiring over 20 years ago. He loved to cook and spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed his trips with the other members of his community as they would go touring to the neat places in the Las Vegas area. With his lady love, Eileen, he had many adventures in Las Vegas. One of Eileen's favorite memories is their three hour trip through Death Valley exploring the mines and watching the flowers bloom for the first time in a hundred years.

In his younger years, Salvatore lived life to the fullest, enjoying long walks, karaoke, history, astronomy and Westerns. He loved sports, especially boxing and his heroes were Rocky Marciano and Joe Louis. Salvatore loved to travel (as long as no airplanes were involved.) He loved his wine and was famous for his delicious meatballs. Most of all, he loved his family deeply and loved spending time with them and with his many, many friends.

As an incredible storyteller, Salvatore had many tales to tell. Salvatore had his ship sunk in the war in shark infested waters, and survived. He had a massive heart attack in the 70's, and survived. He was hit by a cement truck, and survived. He was stabbed 18 times in a home burglarly, and survived. He had illnesses, but still survived and lived a healthy happy life for many years. Salvatore survived until it was time for him to stop, and go to the comforting arms of his beloved mother.

Before his passing, Salvatore had three wishes: to be able to have each of his children see him to say goodbye, to recieve the sacrament from the priest, and to pass quietly in his own bed. In the week before his passing, his wishes were granted.

Salvatore is survived by his four children Daniel Polselli, Vincent (Shahana) Polselli, Pamela (Massimo) Cagliari, Anthony Polselli; six grandchildren: Christian, Robertino, Alisa, Benjamin, Summer, and Tyler, and his companion of fourteen years, Eileen Sanchez. He also had extended family, Rochelle Marto, Jennifer Tihenin, Joe Garza, Dave Feamano, and many others he opened his home and his heart to over the years.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 10:40 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
