Samuel Whitaker

Samuel Darold Whitaker, age 78, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away on September 8, 2016 in Henderson, Nevada.  He was born in Seymore, Missouri on May 4, 1938 to O. E. and Ruby Whitaker.  Samuel married Lynn Rae Sanders on October 28, 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Sam moved from Twin Falls, Idaho to Las Vegas, Nevada 52 years ago.

A loving husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather as well as a loyal friend, Sam accomplished many things in his lifetime.  Moving to Las Vegas in the mid 50’s, he raced in every level available from Craig Speedway and Stardust drag strip to off road in trucks on to being a licensed pilot.  He did everything with great enthusiasm.  He worked with Ducks Unlimited, Wildlife Feedings, Elks Foundation, and the NRA with the same dedication as his racing.  He loved to fish and garden and loved family gatherings and barbequing. Sam touched many lives along his journey.  Being with a Las Vegas dealings of over 35 years, his customers and co-workers all have tremendous respect for him.

Sam is survived by his wife Lynn Whitaker; daughters Dana Whitaker and Debbie (Larry) Motley; son Sam (Kelly) Whitaker Jr.; five grandchildren Durann, Desiree, Curtis, Samantha, and Lisa; three great grandchildren; one brother Max; and two sisters Glyndora and Nancy.
