Navy Lieutenant Commander Retired, Stanley El Mumford, age 88, of Boulder City, NV passed away on August 7, 2014. He was born in Sante Fe, NM on October 18, 1925 to Wilbur and Ruby Mae Mumford. Stanley joined the United States Navy after high school and was a Mustang becoming a Lieutenant Commander at a very Young age. He went on to serve for 30 years before retiring.
He married Eleanor King on December 22, 1976 in San Diego, CA. After retiring from the Navy, Stanley and Eleanor went on a 25 year road trip in their RV seeing all the sights in America. They loved to travel and finally settled down in Boulder City, NV. Stanley was a member of the Boulder City Elks Lodge and loved to go drink coffee with the other members. He had regular visits to South West Diner where he loved his cherry pie ala mode. He was an avid San Diego Charger fan. He was a true patriot and was a member of the Retired Officers Association.
Stanley is survived by his wife Eleanor Mumford of Boulder City, NV; three children Gale(Michael) Stoia of San Marcos, CA, Michelle (Phil) Gomes of Auburn, WA, Marta Brown of Alabama; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
