Steve Williams, 70, passed away at his home on March 14, 2018. A memorial service will be held at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on March 28 at 12:40 p.m. Prior to the service, a gathering of friends and family will be at the Yellowstone room at Sun City MacDonald Ranch Community Center at from 8:30-10 a.m. A celebration of Steve’s life will also be held in Minnesota, with details to be shared by the family at a later date.
Steve grew up in Minnesota. He was born in Marshall on January 29, 1948 to parents Donavon and Vera Williams. He was baptized at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent on Feb. 8, 1948. His family lived on a farm in Clarkfield. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1966. In 1968, he was drafted into the army where he served in the Vietnam War in the Mekong Delta. He was honored with a bronze star.
After serving, he attended Southwest Minnesota State University and achieved a degree in Marketing. After graduation in 1974, he began a successful career in sales with Hormel Foods. During his career he lived in Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Huntington Beach, and Seattle. He enjoyed traveling the country and building friendships along the way.
He retired from Hormel in 2004. Shortly after retirement, he moved to Henderson, Nevada where he worked part-time in his community at Desert Willow Golf Club. He enjoyed socializing, golfing, vacationing, and visiting casinos with many friends.
He is survived by his brothers, Tommy (Virginia), Jim (Pam), his nieces and nephews, Todd, Sara, Mike, Laura, Matt, and T.J., and their families. He is also survived by many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
