Thomas George Kleba, “Tommy,” passed away May 6, 2018 at the Nevada State Veteran’s Home in Boulder City, NV, after a short illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Clara, his brother, Max, and two sisters, Anna Zacher and Teckla Weber. Born December 4, 1933, Tommy married Sandra, “Sandy,” Houlihan on July 27, 1974. They were married 36 years until her death in 2011. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Tommy served in the United States Army from 1956 – 1958, and was employed by Western Electric Co (Lucent,) and the United States Post Office for many years. A 66-year resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he and Sandy retired to Tempe, Arizona where they split their time between Milwaukee and Tempe, and made many trips to London, New York, and various parts of the United States. Tommy and Sandy completed many hours of volunteer service, including over 10 years raising over $100,000 for the Aids Resource Center of Wisconsin which led to the dedication of a room at the ARCW Medical Center in Sandy’s memory.
Tommy moved to Las Vegas, NV, in 2014 to be near friends Jan Miller and Mary Ellen Kroes, and spent his remaining years enjoying the pastimes he loved – televised sports, game shows, and casino gambling. As his health failed, he was transitioned to the loving care at Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City.
Memorials may be made to ARCW, PO Box 510498, Milwaukee, WI 53203, or The Nevada State Veterans Home Activities Fund, 100 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. A celebration of life will be held in Milwaukee, Wi, at a later date. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
