V. Conner

April 9, 1926 — July 2, 2014

Vernette Edward Conner, age 88 passed away on July 2, 2014 in Boulder City, NV, surrounded by family. Bud, as he was known, was a great, great man. He was born on April 9, 1926 in Floris, Iowa to Dale and Janet Conner. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army Air Corps as a tail gunner in a B-17. His rank was Tech Sergeant. He was a proud patriot and loved to tell stories of his service and training. He married Irene Elizabeth Anderson in 1947 and in 1950 moved to California where he raised his family. He worked for Lawrence Livermore Laboratory starting as a maintenance machinist in nuclear research and retired 35 years later as Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations. He had been staying with his granddaughter, Stephanie Tejada, as his health was fading. A special thanks to his caregivers: Barbara, Jaylene, Kelly and Lisa for making his waning years comfortable. Bud was a hard-working man and was always tinkering with machines. He will be remembered for his ability to grow the most amazing tasting oranges. He enjoyed dancing. He was a 50 yr member of Mosaic Masonic Lodge No. 218 in Livermore and was a 23rd Degree Mason. Bud is survived by his daughter Carolyn Oilar of McKinleyville, CA; son Dale Conner II of Las Vegas, NV; sister Valeta Phillips of Manhattan, KS; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Jean Pritchard; wife Irene Anderson Conner Ryan; sister Virginia LaVonne Conner Wells; and brother Victor Parker Conner.

Celebration of life will be held at 1309 Alpine Drive Boulder City, NV 89005 on July 9, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm. and burial service will be held July 12, 2014 at 2pm at the Diamond Crest Cemetery in Susanville, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lend A Hand of Boulder City or Infinity Hospice and sent to Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way Ste 1, Boulder City NV 89005.
