Virgil Dean Frederiksen, 82, of Boulder City, NV passed away on June 26, 2018. He was born May 8, 1936 near Allen, Kansas to Daniel Riis Frederiksen, and Gudrun Johansen Frederiksen. He earned a degree in Geological Engineering at the University of Kansas and then served two years in the U.S. Army. Virgil worked 28 years as a Hydraulic Engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in the Western United States.
Virgil liked to square dance and took free photographs of his fellow dancersas well as many Boulder City residents; he also gave out free Christian literature and cassette tapes to anyone who would accept them.
Virgil is survived by two nephews and several nieces. Nephew Paul Hensleigh assisted Virgil greatly over the past seven years as he transitioned to the life in the Homestead in Boulder City. Virgil was preceded in death by his brother Dan Frederiksen of Littleton, Colorado and sisters Bonnie Hensleigh of Stanford, California, and Peggy Grabham of District Heights, Maryland.
Virgil’s ashes are interred in the Columbarium at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive Boulder City, Nevada. Oh his name plate is inscribed “Jesus is Lord”. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
