Virgil Lee Miller

August 25, 1936 — March 29, 2025

Mesquite, NV

Virgil Lee Miller, 88 years old of Mesquite, NV passed away Saturday March 29, 2025 at Highland Manor. He was born August 25, 1936 in Appleton Colorado to Orville Miller and Dessie Black. He married Judy Miller July 1, 1962 in Grand Junction Colorado.

He was raised in Appleton Colorado by his grandmother and mother. He graduated high school in 1953. He moved his family to Henderson Colorado in 1969 and began a 30 year career as a Tireman for NW Transport (Nationsway) Trucking Company. When he retired, he and Judy became camp hosts for the BLM every summer on the Colorado National Monument for 14 years. They would travel to Bullhead City Arizona during the winter months in Colorado, where he worked for Davis Camp RV Park for over 8 years as maintenance and groundskeeper. Eventually they put down roots in Golden Valley Arizona.

He was a veteran. He enlisted in the Army in November 1958 and was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Oahu Hawaii where he served for 3 years.

He was very artistically creative. He loved the mountains, camping, fishing and watching all the wildlife in the high country. He loved to travel. He had a green thumb, growing over 250 species of roses in the front and back yard of their Colorado home before retirement, and he knew all the names of them as well. He loved doing word search puzzles and playing dominoes before becoming legally blind. He enjoyed meeting new people and talking to everyone.

He is survived by his daughters Cori True (Michael True) of Nevada and Kellie Miller of Texas, his grandchildren Anissa, Anthony, Ashley, Taylor, Austin, and Autumn and 9 great grandchildren, Christopher, Mason, TJ, Nena, Damian, Ayla, Addison, Lydia and Gage and many nephews and nieces, and many other relatives and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Miller, his daughter Lori Abeyta, his grandson Justin Glasgow, and his mother Dessie Miller.

Per his request, no services will be held. The family will spread his ashes in the Colorado High Country with his wife’s ashes this summer.

He would light up a room with his smile and comical personality and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

We invite family and friends to leave condolences or memories at www.starmortuary.com.
