Virginia H. Moore, a 57 year resident of Boulder City, NV, died in her home on Tuesday the 15th of January, 2013. She was 102.
She was born in 1910 to William Warren Hamilton and Lucretia Digby in a farmhouse in Worden, Michigan, a hamlet located at 6 Mile and the Pontiac Trail north of Ann, Arbor.
She attended high school in Ann Arbor where her father held various governmental positions. She attended the University of Michigan and, after moving to New Orleans in her twenties, Tulane University. In New Orleans she worked as a governess, a head mistress of a boarding school and in the US NAVY censorship during World War II. She there met a merchant seaman named Bob Moore. After the war, they married and moved to California where he eventually began a career with Southern California Edison. They lived in Big Creek, California until they moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1956.
She was active in Cub Scouts and in Grace Community Church where she taught the Kindergarten Sunday School for 15 years and was active in the Women's Association until her death. She was an early member of the Hospital Auxiliary and helped with ART in the Park during the 1960's. She was an avid fan of the Mojave Desert, being able to identify most of its flowers and animals. She loved the out doors, the National Parks and, most of all, children. Most recently, she was a principal critic and director of JumpingLion Photography, participating in the selection, preparation and distribution of fine art photographs at Art Shows throughout the region.
Virginia is survived by her son, Hamilton D. Moore, her Grandchildren Erin and David, and hundreds of people she loved.
