Emblem

William (Bill) Clem Havis passed away at the age of 66 on March 9, 2025 in Henderson, Nevada. Bill was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Lillian (Ballard) Havis and Felix Hugh Havis. Growing up, Bill lived the life as a “military brat,” having lived in many states and England.

Bill graduated from Atwater High School in California in 1976 and then joined the Air Force. He was stationed at March Air Force Base, California, where he was a communication/telephone technician. He later worked at a sub-contractor for GTE, before hiring with Centel Telephone Company in Henderson, NV for twenty plus years. During his career with the telephone company, he was a fiber optic cable splicer and was part of a team that converted all the Las Vegas/Henderson valley to fiber optics.

For those who knew Bill, knew him as “Wild Bill.” He was very passionate about the outdoors and knew every road on the high mountains throughout this state, very well. He enjoyed all kinds of sports, having played baseball in his younger years and loved the Miami Dolphins. He was a huge Nascar fan, traveling to many racetracks and cheering on Bill Elliott #9 and recently Chase Elliott. You could always find Bill barbequing something good to share with his friends, he was the life of the party and enjoyed his friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman having recently hunted an elk in the Rocky Mountains and Ely. He was the happiest high on the mountain, with store bought oxygen he always had with him.

He loved his family, mother, kids, and his beloved Lab, Chester. I know he and his father are having a barbeque cookoff in heaven!

Bill is survived by his mother, Lillian Havis; wife, Cathy; children, Danielle (Chris) and Bryan; sister-in-law, Karen (Rob); nephew, Ricky Newton (Ashlei); niece, Heather Nelson (AJ); and four grand nephews and niece, Aaron Nelson, Hunter Nelson; Jaxon Newton and Harper Newton.

Preceded in Death By: Father, Felix Hugh Havis; brothers, Robert Hugh and Charles Edward Havis.

You will forever be in our hearts, until we meet again.
