William Edward Thompson age 82, passed away on December 28, 2015. He went by many names including Ed and Tom. He was born on July 23, 1933 in Newellton, LA to Marion and Minnie DePriest Thompson. He married Joyce Childs on February 5, 1954 in Raymond, MS. They lived in Newellton until they moved to Las Vegas to be closer to their daughter.
William served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a police officer in Newellton and retired as deputy sheriff. Ed was a man with a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time out in nature; watching sunsets with his wife, camping, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed picking at his guitar and playing video poker.
Ed is survived by his wife Joyce Thompson; three children Tom (Tina) Thompson, Joni Thompson, Kurt (Aggie) Thompson; four grandchildren Angel, Nichole, Daniel, Jody; seven great grandchildren Liam, Avalon, Sean, Grace, Simon, Kendel, and Kiran. He is preceded in death by his four brothers Noel, Wesley, Glen, Lloyd and his sister Ruby.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 8:00 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
